...of amazing people on this planet. And I am filled with astonishment by how much inspiration I've gained and all of the wonderful people I've met - even if not in person - since I started Scarlet Elfcup. Su Blackwell is one such person...extraordinarily talented and an ultimate inspiration. I discovered Su Blackwell merely three years ago. I can't remember how I stumbled upon her work while perusing the internet. But, it was love at first sight. I fell instantly in love with the art that Su Blackwell produces because amongst the many things I love beyond yarn and fabric are paper, words and books. Su Blackwell's work represents exactly these things...paper, words and books. There aren't enough words (no irony intended here), to describe the very fine art of Su Blackwell...intricate, stunning, delicate, genius, fashionable, visionary, classy, enchanting, intriguing, original, mysterious...and I am quite certain...sometimes tedious because of the nature of it's detail and minuscule scale. If Mister Finch's work is the epitome of living in a fairytale fantasy that is sewn in, woven in exquisite and intriguing detailed work with fiber, then Su Blackwell's work is the epitome of the same except in paper.
Since discovering Su Blackwell, I've often dreamt of owning a piece of her work. But, being in high demand as she is, you'll find that Su Blackwell's work can only be found in museums, fantastical hotels and large exhibitions these days. Nonetheless, I am an avid collector of some of her work as printed on cards and in photo.
Of all the artists I've come across since the beginning of my journey into the world of art, Mister Finch, Chloe Giordano, and Su Blackwell are my favorite of all favorites. Coincidentally, they are all fine artists of the UK. It's no wonder. Dream as I might...perhaps...just perhaps one of these days, I will be able to own a Su Blackwell piece that will sit quite nicely alongside my Mister Finch piece and a single Chloe Giordano piece.
If you are not familiar with Su Blackwell, I highly encourage you to please go and discover a fascinating world full of fantasy, magic and wonder.
With all this said, I feel extremely honored to have this opportunity to create something special especially for Su Blackwell and someone most dear to her. Without further ado, let me present a present.
